Liz said: “I was thrilled and surprised to accept the Christchurch Business Award 2022 for Community Support on behalf of the Water Lily Project. The awards were held at the beautiful Captain’s Club where the shortlisted businesses and charities were treated to a fabulous buffet lunch will the wonderful addition of the river view.”
Liz added: “Receiving the award was a bitter-sweet moment, as it will be my last public appearance for the charity. I have made the very difficult decision to step down from my part-time role in order to enable a full time manager to take the Water Lily Project to the next level. Over the last five years I have worked with some incredible people. I’ve shed tears over a number of beneficiaries, whose life experiences have been heart-breaking, laughed with team members and beneficiaries alike, enjoyed seeing volunteers and women in our support flourish. I believe passionately in all the charity stands for and I know I am leaving with a strong team in place. I also know that God hasn’t finished yet and I will be praying and watching with anticipation to see where He will lead next.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff, trustees, beneficiaries and volunteers for everything they have done and are doing. As Winston Churchill said “You make a living from what you get, but we make a life by what we give”.
